Obituary for Robert Allan Dearden

Robert Allan Dearden
DEARDEN, Robert (Bob)
November 5, 1949 – August 12, 2018

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Bob Dearden, who passed away peacefully on the morning of August 12, 2018, at the age of 68. Bob was many things to many people throughout his life: overworked civil servant, underpaid community volunteer, prodigious fast-pitch home run hitter, mammoth driver off the tee (in any direction), dedicated and beleaguered ringette/hockey/baseball coach, discriminating connoisseur of both milkshakes and light beer, unabashed Caesar aficionado, unsuccessful dog trainer, vocal Senators supporter, more vocal Senators detractor, expert griller of meats (and occasionally vegetables), slot machine industry benefactor, and would-be future World Series of Poker Champion. Above all else, however, Bob was a family man: devoted and loving husband to Joanne; generous and caring father of Cindi Walpot (Conrad) and Bobby; doting grampa to Siarra and Sophie Walpot; also survived by his brother Rick (Wendy), and sister Diane Ouimet. He will be greatly missed by all, and will forever live in our cherished memories.

Visitation will be held for friends and family at the Kemptville Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 805 Prescott Street, Kemptville, on Saturday, August 18, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.

Celebration of Life Service will take place at the same location on Sunday, August 19 at 2:30pm. Following the service, a reception will be held at the Merrickville Legion, 223 Main St W, Merrickville.

In the spirit of giving with which Bob lived his life, his family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Ottawa Humane Society or The University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
